Day 7 of reviewing an episode of BFDI every day until Silksong releases: S1 E7 "Puzzling Mysteries" There is a 0.645% chance that Silksong will release tomorrow!
Thoughts—
This episode was over pretty fast (thankfully, as I got to this pretty late). I'll make things fast for you, too.
Cake At Stake: Needle uses her first win token! Well, the first win token. Of the entire series. But... she still gets eliminated. I don't like to be superstitious, but maybe it's because she slapped others 13 times before that point...? 13 is an unlucky number, after all.
Challenge: Before the challenge officially starts, we get our second Yellow Face ad! Oh, yeah. I didn't really comment on that last time, huh? Well, at first, the viewer doesn't know his name. But later on in the series, we know his name as "Yellow Face." These ads are pretty legendary by BFDI accounts. There aren't many later on in the series because... well, you'll see. Either way, it's nice to see him here!
The actual challenge starts as a puzzle challenge. It's a fairly easy puzzle, and you can tell that the creators are still starting out due to the ease of the puzzle, both mechanically and story-wise.
Losers: The losers are the Squishy Cherries. Apparently, they both didn't know that the puzzle was upside down, but they were also all completely incompetent. A bit of a spoiler, but they end up solving it the day after (or, if we take words literally according to the show, at least a month). They were also forced to give up Firey to the Squashy Grapes.
Overall: Yeah, I'll be honest, this has many of the same problems as episodes 4 & 5. Right out the bat, I'm giving this episode a D-tier rating. Sorry if you thought the Yellow Face ad was going to positively affect scoring. It's still a bad episode all around. But, since it's still over quick, it's not getting a lower rating. No fuss leads to no fuss.
