Hearing the news about Charlie Kirk being murdered today brought this passage really heavy on my heart.

"... they were killed by the sword... the world was not worthy of them...These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 11:37-40, 12:1-2

I honestly didn't know very much about Charlie Kirk other than his reputation for telling the truth boldly and that he is a brother in Christ.

The fact of the matter with these atrocities, whether it be close to home, or our brothers and sisters in Christ being persecuted on the other side of the world (where situations like this one are a daily occurrence), our response is still the same. This world was not worthy of them, they ran their race well, and they are still cheering us on.

So in light of that we need to run with endurance the race set before us, living each day for Christ, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross. Charlie is in the presence of His Savior, with the fullness of joy. he is actively cheering on all of the saints to continue running the race well. Our response is to continue modeling Christ in our conduct daily. Let's live well until the day we are all reunited.
