He had a talent to distill complex ideas with a simple yet profound clarity; an ability to effortlessly call forth the English language to his side in the battle of ideas.
And each time I had the chance to meet or interview Rex, he was always the embodiment of modesty, authenticity and that revered Newfoundlander affability I had heard so much about.
His words helped shape the public discourse in Canada for a generation.
Now he rests.
