Rex was magnificent. Canada is immeasurably poorer without him . God bless and keep Rex.

Loved his journalism. Said it like it was with such a command of words and such a sense of humour.

I am actually crushed. He was such a strong light in these dark times, an amazing voice, so sad to hear of his passing.

Very well said Aaron. When I met him, Rex was both inexplicably humble and inexorably passionate in his appreciation for Western Canada to provide a paycheque to his fellow Eastern Canadians that was not just decent, but life-changing. (I wrote that sentence with my best impression of Rex's eccentric vocabulary.) It's sad you won't be able to experience his heaping of praise when he watches the northern shores of Victoria Island sweep blue with your victory. But we all know he'll be looking down with so much pride and great appreciation that men like you carry on his brave tradition. RIP Rex

He'll be sorely missed. I wish more Canadians would follow his lead and speak the truth - plainly, wisely, loudly. We are - overall - apathetic when it comes to politics. Democracy is not a spectator sport, but too many treat it as such. Be like Rex. You'll feel taller and stronger. RIP dear man.

I used to listen to Rex frequently on Cross Country Checkup and I enjoyed listening to Rex’s views and opinions on the state of Canadian politics and culture.

One of the greatest Canadians to live. We must maintain his legacy. His past.

Huge loss for all. Rex spoke the truth. Thus why the corrupt CBC let Rex go. RIP Mr. Murphy.

They say every man dies twice.
First, when he breathes his last breath.
And second, when his name is called aloud for the final time.
By that metric, I'm not sure Rex Murphy will ever be truly gone.
I had the opportunity to interview Rex when I first started making documentaries back in 2020.
More than 300 interviews later, he remains the most articulate, insightful and dynamic speaker I have ever had the chance to talk to.
He had a talent to distill complex ideas with a simple yet profound clarity; an ability to effortlessly call forth the English language to his side in the battle of ideas.
And each time I had the chance to meet or interview Rex, he was always the embodiment of modesty, authenticity and that revered Newfoundlander affability I had heard so much about.
His words helped shape the public discourse in Canada for a generation.
Now he rests.
RIP sir. Your country thanks you. You will be missed.
