There are or were many Native American/Indigenous tribes with far darker complexions that have been erased, redefined, or re-classified as African or African American simply because they were dark with curly/coily hair textures or more Afro-centric features. To this day these tribes are not included in any registry and or recognized. Unfortunately, there isn't any way to locate the majority of these tribes today. My Maternal side of my family comes from the Oklahoma Cherokee and Northen West Texas Comanche tribes but aren't recognized because most were born with darker skin tones and more afro-centric features. I'm now trying to get on the registries for these tribes through our written Genealogy. I've done the work going back seven generations. They don't want anyone to admit that there were many Indigenous tribes of darker or black complexions. This would include many recognized or nationally registered tribes who don't want this to be known. They have become comfortable with how they're listed as being the ONLY Indigenous people.

Ima mixed race individual with lineage from Puerto Rico the DR haiti Spain and wherever my racist white grandads people are from , I look like a white man so I get called that. Aint no such thing as African American JUST American! Our darker hued brothers are indigenous to these lands. When you take over a land you don't import people, you subjugate them and oppress them. Does it make sense to go across the earth to Take people to a land they never been and teach them to do something they've never done? No. What else have we been lied to about????? EVERYTHING!!!!

Respect and this is not even my fight or category but be careful with the word ALL, we know SOME were brought from Africa and some intermarried and according to America BC a book promoted surprisingly by the very factual Reader's Digest publishers some were already here before Chris and the island boat. This is fascinating. Also the indentured whites were working in Virginia fields when Anthony and Angela arrived in 1620, but those two were free people I think, have to check my notes. So some of the ancestors of the Virginia blacks that had offspring with Virginia whites were not in a top/down situation. Some of the indentured whites line are still in Eastern Shore and a Mr. Browne after the civil war married an ancestor of mine out on the Prairie. A Virginia classmate was so glad as she always wanted to be related to me. Cheers. I history is never boring. Also the words AND and BOTH are very handy they do not teach us this reasoning in school it is often this OR that. Best to ya'll. I hope everyone finds more!

A lot of this knowledge is buried or passed down through the generations through story telling. We are X in the law because we are POWs. The natives made treaties. And got land. But were always so sick. Deathly! And i would ask how??? I thought they talked to the land and Worshipped God and had their own medicines. Not those healers. Because they lied we are those healers. When big momma could touch you take away your pain. You would have to bring your baby to big momma so she could give them back to God but there are alot of old rituals we dont practice because it was frowned upon.

Some so-called black Americans are upset because other so-called black Americans are becoming aware of their family's Indigenous American bloodline and have confirmed that they're not African or European at all. The American Negro is the American Indian.
