When the keyboard clicks randomly get LOUD AF. It's been a thing for me since iOS 5. Ohers have the problem too, I just saw a Tweet about it today. The keyboard also gets laggy in search or in a web browser.

They really need to stop with the annual updates. It puts an artificial constraint on them, and it forces them to push stuff out the door that isn’t quite ready. It was so much better under Steve when stuff was released “when it’s ready.” Please, get back to that, Apple.

THANK YOU. I feel like it’s been better recently, but I really would like Apple to buckle down and clean out iOS from top to bottom and fix all the issues. Something like what they did with iOS 12

The lock screen wallpaper picker UI is still really laggy and glitchy

I am so pleased to read this. I keep finding myself have to “force quit” my phone when an app crashes/hangs. The OS is nowhere near as elegant or seamless.

Sometimes I wish they would stop adding features, and make what’s there work better. My email stopped syncing over my devices months ago for no apparent reason. Also there are so many features that are just buried too deep or you need a long press of a button to activate it. Things used to be much more intuitive.

Using the keyboard leaves much to be desired, particularly with selecting text. I feel like Apple made a bunch of changes to how the keyboard is used when 3D Touch came out. Then once they removed 3D Touch they never fully recoded things to optimize the experience without it.

Lately I haven't been having any iOS bugs and glitches, but there's a macOS bug that's getting really annoying for me: you could be using random software (Safari, for example) and sometimes the names of files from open Finder windows or from the desktop pop up? It's very strange. Imagine you're browsing YouTube and the text "file_name.jpeg" pops up as if you're hovering over it, but you're using Safari at the moment. I guess the best way to explain it is, macOS kind of ignores the "top layer" (what you're using at the moment) and goes "the user is hovering over this file, here's the name", despite it being in the "background layer", if that makes sense.

One issue I’ve noticed is that when I’m on a call using a speakerphone, like when the phone is lying on a desk or bed because I don’t want to hold it to my ear, the speaker sometimes randomly turns off, and I have to tap the button again to hear the other person. PS: Touch to share (name drop) doesn’t work as it should. The sync of pictures of contacts is also buggy. Airdrop sometimes just won't work.

Occasionally; across multiple devices the volume will sometimes max out or randomly go down to zero without explanation and usually when Control Center is opened. I don’t want my ears being damaged because of faulty Apple software.

Weird issue I recently found in the last few months with Apple CarPlay. If the phone is connected, it no longer is recording audio on videos taken with your phone. Yet if you hold the button while taking pics, it’s recording the audio. This is something I recently found out end of February that I’ve never had happen before.

Everytime you want to rearrange something in the Control Center or on the lock screen, never did anything feel more unnatural and never did I fear of doing something more than this

I have an iPhone 16 and one of my biggest annoyances with iOS 18 is how stuttery the OS feels, it doesn't feel smooth at all and frame drops are common. 18.5 beta 4 is miles better but there's still an occasional stutter and animation lag here and there.

Customizing the control center is absolute hell. Icons in tinted mode, inside a folder, often go to the default "no icon" blueprint logo. iOS just heats up my phone when on idle (iPhone 14, iOS 18.4). iOS got rearranging of icons and customization, but Apple had to do it in an "Apple way", which is just more convoluted and confusing (seriously why is the App library literally not just the list of apps...who asked for the auto generated folders?). For the past 4-5 iOS versions, the first keyboard tap is audibly way louder than the rest. Screenshotting will sometimes not bring up the screenshot UI, just saves the whole screenshot in camera roll. Earlier iOS versions were more locked down than Android but made sure that anything that was shipped was solid. Current (pure, Google) Android offers more customization and stability imo, as an iPhone + Pixel user. The thing that I love about the iPhone, why I keep using it, is Find My + iMessage. But tbh both are replaceable by an iPad Mini. Tbh I wish they go back into alternating between feature updates and stability updates, and the S versions of each phone. One release is a new design or idea, the S version is perfecting that idea.

I didn’t scroll very far; but occasionally I can’t send texts/imessages. The send button won’t do anything at all, so I have to either swipe the keyboard away or back out of the conversation entirely, then jump back in and it’ll send. Happens both in the app and when you pull down to “quick reply” when the banner notification pops up. iOS 18.4.1. Has been happening for a couple updates so far.

Im working on a piece this month about the ongoing issues with iOS in the last few years; it’s seemingly becoming more and more buggy, unstable, and unpolished. As I’m working on this segment I want to collect as many screenshots/recordings of these bugs as I can! So this month, keep an eye out for any bugs and glitches and quirks, and if you catch a recording or screenshot email it to me at lukemianibusiness@gmail.com!
