People pleasing at its core is covert narcissism. If I’m a people pleaser, I am compulsive about controlling what you think of me.”

Viewers called my interview with Kit Perez “prescient” because she had a ready response for the Bitmap Books + Moses Norton cancellation. But it wasn’t; it’s perfectly predictable, meaning you already know how to respond when they come for you.

“I don’t ever believe in kowtowing to the cancel mob. Ever. You don’t put food on my table. Obviously, because you are never going to buy my stuff.”

Have you watched the interview?

People pleasing can also be a trauma response to having gotten severely negative responses from others frequently in childhood. It's common with autism and ADHD.
