Ahhh...! I love Wuthering Waves so much. The Phrolova main story quest is really rending my heart to pieces. And honestly, I can't pick sides between Rover and her during their battle of morals. They do fell in the same madness named "Obsession" afterall—different paths, different goals, yet the same level of crazy.
One is stuck in the past and couldn't release herself from it, while the other could only move towards the future that their past self has set in order. Both of their obsessions resulted in many consequences that could never be undone, and they became enemies because they refused to drop their own madness. Yet both had the audacity to lecture one another when both of them are flawed (Phro made some good points against the Rover, but she still committed Genocide on Jinzhou and almost repeated the same thing to Ragunna just for her own selfish reason). I'll quote Phrolova on this: "Why argue who's fallen further?"
Both have reasons for what they are doing, yet it's up to the players to decide which reason is more reasonable/relatable for them (which is why, I think, most people took on Phro's side instead of Rover's—because the goal of preserving the memory of your loved ones no matter the cost is much more touching and impactful, compared to the idealistic saving the world from lament that the Rover has planned).
But personally, I think Rover is really valid to end her physical life. She was a threat ever since 1.0 Jinzhou (the Tacet Discords she controlled literally caused the death of many people on screen), and she will always be a threat if kept alive. Phro merging with the Lost Beyond is a better, fitting end FOR her—although I can't help but sympathize by the sentiment she held for her village and the Rover (that one Black Screen White Text proved that she truly held the Rover close to her heart which makes the story all the more bittersweet). Well, at least she can have a peaceful slumber now, with the happy illusion of her "resurrected" village.
What are you guys' thoughts on the story? And maybe, I would try ranking the story quests (including the companion quest) once my laptop is fixed and I can stream again.
