I believe these are stages of life, and I agree: YouTube doesn't help its creators, and not only that, the pay is very low, and it forces them to abandon their channels. I find myself somewhat on the flip side of this. Or maybe it’s two sides of the same coin. I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’m addicted to watching shows (and reactions to them) but I suppose it’s the media that I like most and im most prone to watching. And I use prone essentially because I see it as a ‘’waste of time’’ even though it really isn’t because I do thoroughly enjoy it — it’s one of my favorite things to do in fact And even so I have this pressing urge not to; because it isn’t productive. Time ticks and ticks away relentlessly… and it’s time I feel like I should use building some form of wealth or idk… anything that makes it so I don’t have to work a 9-5 for 5 more decades… Time is the enemy. Life is brutal and ambition has to guide us. But that requires discipline, focus and sacrifices. Am I making any kind of sense here😭

I'm gonna be taking an indefinite break from this channel as sad as it is to say...
Thought about it a lot over the past months and was hoping for a change. I'll be uploading the rest of AHSOKA as that's recorded already and I love sharing my joy of Star Wars & TV in general with you all, but nothing else will be going up unfortunately. I had so many plans for this channel and video ideas that I want to do but this channel takes A LOT of time away from life and I want to learn new talents (game design + language learning) and focus on other things. The time I put into this channel is just too much when I have to start making more money in life. If I won the lottery right now, I'd continue this channel because I love doing it as a passion and not a job but I have to start focusing on money which is really disappointing. Time & Money... Less than $200/month from this channel just can't sustain it. I make that much in 2 shifts at work lol but I put 20x the time into this.
I made this channel in 2016 and it's changed so much overtime, I've changed too. Played a lot of great games and watched a lot of my new favorite shows and I got to do that with all of YOU! I want to focus on other passions now and still have a presence online through my gaming channel and TikTok (which luckily make money since I'm sponsored) but watching shows is gonna be something I do on my own now. I've gotten so used to doing it in front of a camera having a discussion and all that but sadly I can't put in the time anymore for the inconsistency of the YouTube algorithm with my channel.
My main passion in life was always video games and still is. Live Streaming for years didn't work out so I decided to start a reaction channel and really loved it. But I want to get back to not having to worry about the next episode of a show, watching it and editing it, I want to get back into games being my main focus. Whether it's entering esports or making my own game someday or just simply having a successful game focused channel; that's always been where my passion lies and I need to get more focused on that instead of this because its just not worth it right now.
I've really loved all the comments and the amazing people I've talked with and seen every single week showing up for the videos, I'm gonna miss that and hope to see you guys somewhere beyond this channel. (and yes I read all the Insta Dm's and love you guys there as well) I'm not leaving the internet at all, and I'll still be a TV nerd on my Twitter "JustGavNBennett" & my Instagram "JustGavinBennett" who knows if my handles will change eventually but my link tree will still remain here so you can always find me. Ain't no way I'm missing out on all the amazing shows coming out, I just can't afford the time to watch them in front of a camera anymore.
I don't even want to hit send on this because I still feel like I can keep uploading and uploading and maybe at some point the channel will grow & feel consistent but I've also thought that for a very long time at this point and set many goals that I've failed to meet. Who knows if this channel will evolve into something else in the future (deep dives / commentary / etc) but I obviously won't delete any of what we've built here. If anything this channel is just an archive of fun memories. I worked so hard over 9 years to come to where we are and saying goodbye to this is something I never thought I would ever have to do. I'll still be coming back to this channel all the time to check on comments of old videos + this is my main YouTube account lol, don't know if that'll have to change.
