Aw, Maddy! Beautifully written. I know it's hard to even write to us with an update when things are so tenuous. Obviously, don't worry about anything other than your family. May God cover you and your family in this time. 🙏♥

So sorry to hear that he had complications. I'm Glad to hear that he is improving!!! He seems like a fighter and he has a loving family and friends sending loving healing energy to him. Let him and your family know that your Internet family are holding you all in our hearts and are sending loving healing energy to you all. Take all the time you need to be with your dad and family. They matter so very much. Much love from WA state.

I'm so glad to hear your dad is recovering well! My mother got heart bypass surgery this past june, so I empathize so much with what your going through. It's so tough to surrender to an outcome you have no control over. Most likely once he is more stabele and out of the anesthesia, they will start to have him do some mild physical therapy and he may have to be on statins and betablockers for life which is not a bad thing its fairly common, however once he's discharged, make sure he goes to cardiac rehab! It makes a huge difference having monitored excercise by cardiac nurses, by no time he will be like almost normal! Its usually better to get these surgeries earlier rather than later, while he's still young and not too old. Hang in there, your in the hardest part now, but at least everything was planned in advance and not a urgent surprise. He's in the safest place being monitored 24/7 so if there is an issue, they will intervene immediately. Praying for his swift recovery and for you to be supported as well during this stressful time.

I'm recovering from surgery to repair my dissected aorta. I almost died, but tomorrow it will mark 4 months since it happened. I'm doing relatively well and I expect your father will do similarly well. Even though it's still scary, you can relax and breathe a bit now. It's a long recovery period (6-12 months), but it will pass and you're likely to have many good years with him in the future. I wish continued good fortune to him, you and your family. The worst part is over. :-)

I wanted to wait to post an update until we were mostly sure my dad was out of the weeds. The surgery ended up being more intense than expected and there were lots of post-op complications. It really wasn’t looking good for a few days. Thankfully, my dad is finally improving and recovering, slowly but surely. He’s still in the ICU for now, so continued positive vibes / prayers are appreciated. 🙏✨
There won’t be a video again this week as I’m spending as much time with him and my family as possible during this difficult time.
