As some of you may have heard, the Internet Archive got hacked last week and is still down. User names and passwords were stolen. If you have an account there and use the same password on multiple sites (please don't do that, it's really bad internet security) make sure you change your passwords. Also, this is where I get the majority of my public domain content to riff on. I've got everything I need for Riffoween, but until the site is back up and running again it will be difficult for me to find other content to use. There is also a looming threat of the site shutting down for financial reasons. Between cost to operate, and lawsuits from publishers over textbooks the site made available during Covid, there is a lot of financial stress on them. Let's hope things turn around for them. Internet Archive preserves a lot of content from films, to books, to video games. They also run the Wayback Machine, which archives old websites and old versions of websites, making it basically the internet's museum. It would be a shame to lose such a valuable resource.
