There's a new ChinaJoy's 13-minute gameplay clip for Dynasty Warriors: Origins. It's awesome, please go check it out!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGhfR...

I want to do a video gushing over it so bad, but I'm having a cold and the quality of the record from the livestream isn't the best anyway, so I'll settle with a community post...

+ Holy sh!t! The arrangements of Eve and Wall of Fate from DW4 are awesome! I was so worried about the series dropping its iconic rock style for its OST.
+ The overworld looks so good!
+ Actual level design! We are so freakin' back!
+ Actual morale system! The enemy is also freakin' agressive too!
+ You now actually advance and fight together with your allies!
+ The dev says that the combat would now require careful guarding and dodging. What is this, the Dark Souls of Dynasty Warriors?!

Also there's an interview with 4gamer that has more infos not presented in the gameplay footage:

Some highlights:

- The man in yellow robe (second image of this post) is Zhang Jiao
- Some of the devs wanted this to be DW10, but since the goal was to go back the series root, and there's a thinking that a new numbered title must add new characters, so they went with Origins instead.
- Clarifying more about returning to its root, the producer said that the series was first and foremost a Tactical Action game, but starting with DW7, it has focused more on the 1vs 1000 Action. And with Origins, the devs want to back to when the enemies have lots of threatening soldiers and officers (FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT!)
- The story will be more in-depth, so even those who aren't familiar with the Three Kingdoms can still enjoy (wasn't it always been like this though?)
- The producer mentioned the Sangokushi novel by Yoshikawa EIji stopped after Zhuge Liang's death at Wu Zhang Plains because the author no longer want to write more after that, so RIP to the Jin characters, I guess (translation makes it sound kinda harsh, but that's kinda the gist of it)
- Some characters will change appearance depending on their ages, or their ranks.
- The player can name the protagonist, but his gender and appearance are locked. There are also currently no plan to have different costumes for the protagonist.
- The game doesn't use the Flow Combat from DW9, but utilizes the system similar to the old Charge system, but the charge strings aren't rigid like C2 is a juggle attack, and C3 is a stun attack, ....
- The game isn't Open World (Thank heaven!)
- Depending on the battle, the protagonist may swap out with other officers at certain time.

I wasn't sold on the announcement trailer, but I am so hyped after all this! DW truly is back with a vengeance!

@greenorb29

Disappointed at the oc having no appearance or costume customization hopefully they'll make an empires game and keep and improve the anachronistic weapons but this might be the 3rd mainline entry I'll purchase. Gen 9 consoles might have a place in my home someday.
