Columbus Police Body Camera

Recently the Columbus Chief of Police stated this channel hurts the Division of Police. Do you agree with her?

@luxuryxcoffin

It’s not about looking good or looking bad. It’s about transparency, public awareness of the reality of policing and accountability for both citizens and officers alike. Period.

It hurts HER narrative is what she is really saying.

I'm a Columbus taxpayer. That woman makes CPD look bad with her poor leadership and inability to keep criminals off our streets. Every single CPD officer and Columbus citizen is suffering under her.

If the truth is the problem then whomever is in charge should be investigated.

As a Columbus resident i’m disappointed in our chief of police. Our chief of police should be promoting and supporting this channel, it’s really helped me learn a lot about policing. Hope things are going well for you.

I’m from Columbus and the Columbus Police was viewed in a negative light because, they were on the news every other month. Your channel shows the humanity, patience and compassion, the Columbus PD have for people, especially the ones, that is viewed unworthy in the eyes of many. I told if I ever see you, I want to shake your hand.

What is wrong with transparency and the truth? Your videos have opened my eyes. I appreciate and respect police officers on another level because of your channel. I'm really sorry for all the bullshit you go through.

Your channel has completely changed my view of the police. It's nice getting to know the people behind the badge. We're all just people wanting to have a good safe time on this earth. My favorite videos are the average encounters you have daily lending a helping hand to community members in need. Thank you Officer Ben for making a difference!

That's ridiculous! How is this harmful? It's informative, and it reveals how essential this force is for the community

If anything, it has taught me more about the process and everything you all have to go through. It has made me more appreciative of not just the Columbus department, but all the hardworking departments out there. Thank you for your service and bravery!

This is either an absolutely insane display of incompetence or just straight malice. A channel like this is worth its weight in gold in terms of free advertisement and pr. No government funded project could even come close in terms of effectiveness when it comes to getting the population behind the police. It’s like complaining about your brands products being reviewed and positively rated by popular influencers lol

I like seeing all the positive encounters. Some of the videos you feel bad for people but it really shows the challenges that CPD face daily in the community.

Back 5 years ago I was a huge BLM supporter and everything that goes with that. I didn’t think the police were good for our city (I live in a Columbus suburb) and I was vocal about my disdain for police. I met and became friends with a sergeant from your department (she’s a real good one and respects you a lot) and she told me about this channel. I’ve religiously watched every video you’ve made since then and it’s completely shifted my thoughts about the police and CPD. I am still a bleeding heart liberal, but with more balance and a huge appreciation for what officers do and encounter daily. Thank you for this channel and for fighting to get your job back to protect our city. ❤

@CheapLazyGrower

I love the Columbus channel! I’ve NEVER seen one body cam video that makes the department look bad. I wish I had those cops protecting my city. Also, I’ve seen so many good deeds done by Columbus PD on video. Makes the department look great if anything.

I literally just recommended this channel to somebody a couple of hrs before seeing this post. I live 30 miles south of Columbus and from what i see in your vids the cops in cbus are better trained, more compassionate and smarter than here in my hometown. Your channel actually helped improve my view of police officers!!

The Columbus Chief of Police, the Inspector General or Internal Affairs, the City DA, the Mayor, and the woke Judges make the Division of Police look bad. What they need is more transparency so that when an officer, like the one that was terminated for racism (which was completely FALSE), doesn't have their reputation, career, and profession stolen from them even if they move away. One of the best things that Florida and Arkansas have done is made police work 100% transparent at a State level, allowing you to an entire officer's shift if you felt so inclined.

@FlaKNMB

In my opinion, she couldn't be more wrong. I particularly appreciate your interaction with people who are mentally ill. My brother is mentally ill and I hope that if he ever has to interact with the police they show him the same amount of compassion, respect and professionalism that you and other officers on this channel have demonstrated.

@ThisIsLife_

Absolutely not. I'm aware you are unable to give details. However, I wonder if a "justification" was given for such an outlandish statement. By the logic of "This channel hurts the Division Of Police" she would essentially be saying that ALL bodycam content channels hurt policing in general. Which is incredibly false. Publicized content from police bodycams actually helps build more public trust in law enforcement, as it is a means of transparency. When you are talking about policing, public transparency is not only an overall good to society, but especially so to the Division of Police. This is absolutely a targeted attack against you.
