Hey all, interesting turn of events. So just a few days after posting my "Why I'm not Worried YET about OGL 1.1" video, a new leak came out. I'm not going to discuss the particulars of it here. If you want to see my thoughts on the leak, it can be found on a pinned comment on that video. I wanted to put on here that until we have official final language from OGL 1.1, I won't be posting a video about it...

I put out about a video a month, but rest assured that once the language comes out I will find time to address it, and how it relates to my original video (though likely not immediately). If there is anything in the new language that requires me to "apologize" or admit that I was wrong, I'm not so proud that I won't address it/ do so in that video. For now, though, I stand behind the video I made ESPECIALLY in the context in which it was made.

I tried my best to address narratives that--at the time--existed with very little proof. I never alleged that those leaking information were lying or claimed to make any definitive positons on what WOULD happen. That more-cynical, existing positions were supported by this leak doesn't change the fact that I base my opinions on the strength of the evidence I am presented with. More information has become available, and so I'm considering it. The possibility of being swayed by new, credible information was something I directly addressed in the video itself. I still believe there are things to be skeptical about for this leak, and I still maintain my opinion that the focus of public discourse should be critically examining new information as it becomes available and NOT on fearmongering or doomposting.

But if you've come to my channel because you are looking for a pound of flesh or to smugly proclaim who "was right," I'd ask you to actually watch my video and the arguments that I was making. Ultimately, as I stated before, I love DND and do not want to abandon it only because things look bad. I know passions are high. I know livelihoods are at stake. That doesn't mean that I can't critically examine things as they come. I want to end with some quotes from the video itself to reiterate my position:

"[W]ithout seeing the terms of the OGL 1.1, making definitive statements on it is inappropriate...There’s a level of defeatism that the current rhetoric around this issue causes, which I believe is unhelpful. The community needs to continue to ask for clarification, to stress the importance of third party content creation, and to move forward ready to address the worst IF it comes. To that extent, I think creators in the DND-space owe it to themselves and the community to engage with this topic critically, and sometimes that means differentiating between what could happen and what will happen." -Fel
