The Volyn tragedy is a complex and painful chapter of history that shouldn’t be presented one-sidedly.

In the 1920s and 1930s, Poles conducted colonization policies in Volyn, displacing Ukrainians and carrying out repression. During the war, the Polish Home Army also committed war crimes against Ukrainian civilians. We cannot ignore the role of the NKVD, which provoked and fueled the conflict.

I do not deny that Ukrainians also committed crimes and caused suffering. But blaming only Ukrainians is an oversimplification and not the full truth. It’s important to look at the events honestly, with all facts considered, to understand history and prevent repeating past mistakes.
