The context for the lore fiends! Once again, please read the pinned comment of my last comic if you’re confused. -This is early in the story where Cole and Volkov have forged a tentative alliance. Cole needs someone to teach her the ropes of slaying monsters, and Volkov needs her to retrieve a clearance key from Uriel’s study while he’s performing a military escort -I mentioned those monster hunting guilds in my last post, and the ‘Cardinals’ are the biggest and strongest of them all, privately funded by the royal family. In fact they are so large in number that they have started resembling a private militia, starting to take on crime fighting commissions alongside their monster slaying commissions -This has started causing friction between the Cardinals and the Military police as they fight for the same jobs, which you can see in the comic with Uriel and Major Hugo Rockefeller (scarred side character) -Uriel is a Knight General and the current ambassador of the Cardinals, his face and charming nature alone bringing a slew of public donations and recruits. However, it is only people in the position of Hugo Rockefeller that can see him for his true personality - that is to say a vapid, covetous schemer. -It is as they ascend the steps of the Lindell justice building to attend a tribunal that Uriel spots an old face in the crowd, one that he has been seeing in the depths of his nightmares and the corners of his vision for the last five years. -It is at this moment that Cole, against her better judgement, pries open a half opened file on Uriel’s desk, perhaps what he was reading before he left. It details a terrible incident, and among those named deceased is ‘Rafail Volkov’ -Her blood runs cold because if this Volkov is dead, then who has she been travelling alongside this past week? Mysteries! If you have any other questions then please let me know❤️

Girlie, you can't be this good at both storytelling AND art 😭. It's unfair to all us unskilled folks. But this thing is like, good. Also, can I say, using Uriel's (?) hair to separate the panels was a genius move. It looks incredible :

Who is he?
And thus begins the black and bitter vendetta between Uriel of the Cardinals and the man who calls himself Rafail Volkov. For those interested in the context of this comic, I’ll leave the details in the pinned comment! This follows from the pinned comment of my last comic.
