Visual Education

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a photography project inspired by Old Masters' still life paintings, aiming to capture a 17th-century aesthetic with rotting fruits, vegetables, and vintage props to create a sense of historical decay. I’d like to achieve a soft, moody lighting style similar to Rembrandt's lighting techniques.

Does anyone have experience with lighting setups for these types of compositions? Specifically, I'm interested in tips for balancing light across the scene while keeping it dramatic, or any advice on prop aging techniques to add authenticity. If you've worked with reflectors or mirrors for nuanced light control, I'd love to hear how you positioned them!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and tips. Thanks in advance!

Best,
Karl
