As some of you may know, I turned 30 last week. I took some time to reflect on both what I love and what I struggle with in content creation—while also sinking a hundred hours into "Age of Mythology Retold".
What I struggle with:
-The constant pressure to feed the algorithm. - Self-promotion. - Using keywords just to drive views. - Video Editing.
I understand that these things are necessary to thrive in this space and come easily to others, but they've never felt natural to me. I’ve always disliked the idea of constantly reminding people to 'like and subscribe.'
What I love :
-The challenge of composing for a variety of situations. -Seeing all the progress I've made compared to where I was five years ago. -Engaging with my community, even though I’m an introvert. -The friendships and collaborations I’ve built along the way. -Knowing that my music impacted situations in your games.
And most importantly—all of you. This community is a melting pot of incredible people. It’s a real pleasure to step away from the real world with you and hear your stories and adventures.
In retrospect, I've held myself back quite a lot in these past five years. I've turned down podcasts, interviews, conventions, newspapers, partnerships, and a myriad of other opportunities to get more "out there". In truth, I didn't feel like I was good enough/ready.
But now I see there will never be a 'perfect moment'—I have to create it. From here on, I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to chase my dreams.
Thank you for being with me through every step and misstep. It means the world. Travis
