Recently, I have been speaking with a man (Neil), who along with a couple of partners, filmed the Earth Jam ‘95 music festival at Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta. Neil and his partners — one of which uploaded his B-roll footage of Dream Brother to his YouTube channel in 2017 — captured roughly 2-3 songs per artist (see who performed below) — including some brief interviews with the various acts — with Hi8 cameras and 16mm film.
Earth Jam ‘95 lineup:
Indigo Girls Grant Lee Buffalo Luscious Jackson G. Love and Special Sauce Jeff Buckley Mike Watt (w/ Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl, and Pat Smear) Soul Coughing Band de Soleil
I have persuaded Neil to digitize this footage, however, this will be a costly endeavour, therefore we are looking at a couple of possibilities to raise the necessary funds to facilitate the process.
Neil emailed me recently with the following message:
“Below is a general fundraiser we are doing by pre-selling the services that we do at a discount price in order to raise some immediate money.
If some of his (Jeff Buckley) fans wanted to purchase railroad ties it would certainly speed up the process of the transfer (referring to the digitization of the footage). They could also be traded in for mixing or mastering or video editing services that we do here (see link below for clarification).”
If anyone is interested in helping us get this footage digitized and finally brought to light after three decades of hiddenness, perhaps you might want to support this cause and Neil’s company by purchasing a railroad tie. Alternatively, as mentioned above, you could avail yourself of the various services that Neil offers, which can be viewed through the website above.
Neil said, ”Put Buckley Video in the notes section. I'll put 1/2 the RailrRoad Tie Towards Digitization immediately. They can monitor progress on social.”
Your support would be sincerely appreciated.
In the event that this idea is unsuccessful, I have suggested to Neil that a focused fundraising campaign (perhaps a GoFundMe) would probably yield better results and might raise the money with ease. I’m trying to help Neil out, though, which would be a win-win for all us.
Thanks for your time. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
