My latest video breaks down the cost of a $300 dress so you can see all that goes into it: the materials, the labor, the overhead, the profit margins, everything. People seem to have it confused with me defending the use of polyester and let me be clear: polyester use needs to drop by 234102938489% but there are times when it's the best option. The point of the video is to expose when you possibly might be getting scammed and when it's possible $300 for a dress (of any fiber) makes sense.

Issey miyake is that rare instance where the homme plisse trousers are so well made despite it being completely polyester

i work in high end custom upholstery and sofa manufacturing and 90% of sofa fabrics are polyester because its so versatile and durable— especially for something you sit on daily. sometimes polyester is just the best option, even if it means some of my clients get mad at me for it (like its my decision anyways, i just work here man)

The misconception of polyester is HUGE! Yes, polyester is bad when is blended with natural fibers and is imitating said natural fiber and being sold as a natural fiber (weather is a low cost or high cost)... In my fashion professional opinion (always wanted to say that!), polyester in fashion is best for evening wear or occasion wear - there are some GOOD polyester for those products! And it works because these products don't get a lot of wear, can be overdramatic depending on the design, and you can easily line it with a natural fiber... Those are some of my thoughts 😅

I bought polyester fabric with fun prints and made bunch of tshirts. I throw it in washer/dryer. The colors are still vibrant, the fabric is thin, no severe pilling, and it doesn’t wrinkle. What’s not to like? Oh, and it is stretchy, meaning comfortable. I bought organic cotton jersey, colors are also vibrant, but fabric doesn’t hold shape well as polyester does. It is much thicker and too hot for Florida climate. Majority of brand name sports gear, especially those moisture wicking tshirts, etc. are made of lightweight polyester. I wish there was a substitute for it, but I haven’t found it yet.
