Long Haul by Simple Flying

Cathay Pacific has ordered 30 Airbus A330-900 aircraft! What do you think? 🤔

@YamiPheonix531

The order backlog for the a330 is short so the airline can take possession of them in less than 5 years.

It should be noted the A330-900neo has a range of 7,200 nautical miles. That’s enough to fly between Hong Kong and San Francisco if needed.

Great choice. Since they already operating a330ceos. It will be simplier for them to transition to a330neos.

Great choice! Cathay now uses its current A330-300 for inter-Asia flight, China, Japan, Indonesia etc. those are aging very quick and the interior design is getting outdated, ordering new A330 is a absolute grate choice

I think holding off and going for the higher capacity 77x woukd be better, thry do operate 777s anyway

Considering the a330neo is on slightly less efficient than the 787 it’s a very good choose for cx. Matches their a350s and a320neos and has an easy transition from a330ceo. Very safe, efficient, reliable and shorter delivery times as well.

Perfect replacement for their old A330

It wasn’t a surprise given their huge existing fleet of A330s. I mean, I would’ve loved for them to have chosen the Dreamliner, but that was always going to be a stretch. Nevertheless, nice to see the A330neo finally starting to gain ground in the market and Cathay looking to a brighter future

It’s great! There haven’t been many A330 neo orders, so theres a small backlog, and as they already operate -300s, they already have pilots on the A330 platform!

@Tpr_1808

Cathay doesn't use its a330s for long routes and the neo is more efficient in shorter routes which they primarily serve

@FitzArias

I'm surprised CX didn't aim for the A350. They can afford it.

@bluuwatersaviation

Good decision. There is no need to introduce a 787 for them

@BamesNond4882

If it makes my home carrier any better, then it is a good investment.

A330neo looks way better aesthetically than the flat-nosed b787 or a350.

@heyedddie

Prefer the A350 with higher cabin pressure and better humidity. You feel relaxed after a flight.
