The journey is NOT a straight line. It never will be.
Back in 2013 I got all eleven Fit Body Boot Camp location owners together in our dingy little rented corporate office.
I was excited to help them grow their Fit Body gyms in the communities they served.
Back then, FBBC was not a global brand yet…
…but I saw the vision in my minds eye and I knew that the product was so good, so unique and so different than what was out there that it would eventually become a global fitness franchise brand.
What I had not anticipated was the number of times I would have to max out my credit cards, borrow money from friends and family and refinance my home just to continue the brand growth.
Like many new entrepreneurs, I had overestimated how quickly success would come, and I underestimated how much time, money and effort it would really take.
But like all great products Fit Body eventually caught on and we started opening up gyms all throughout the US and Canada at a rate of 5 to 7 locations per month.
We hit the tipping point back in 2017 and the momentum of growth was insane for our franchise locations!
But then March 2020 came, the pandemic, and EVERYTHING came to a screeching stop.
Now that the brand was gigantic and our corporate office had dozens of employees we found ourselves struggling to meat payroll and other operational expenses, considering we weren’t getting any new franchise locations on board for almost that entire year.
So I did what needed to be done…
I sold off some investments, maxed out credit cards and emptied the bank account to keep the brand afloat so we can keep serving and supporting our franchise owners.
After a two years we got our legs underneath us again and we started opening up more FBBC locations across the country.
Today the growth of Fit Body Boot Camp is bigger and faster than ever! But it would not have turned out that way if I wasn’t willing to “bet the farm” on it several times throughout the years.
And that’s the BIG LESSON for you…
1) create a product that people love 2) commit to doing whatever is required to achieve success 3) understand that hard times will come and they will test you mentally, emotionally spiritually and financially. 4) it’s never a straight line to success. There will be curves, detours, and setbacks. That’s just the cost of doing business.
At our most recent Fit Body World Conference I was reminded again just how awesome this brand is… not because I built it, but because of the hundreds of FBBC gym owners who show up every day, delivering the results and never compromise on anything.
If you love fitness and love helping people get fit and transform their bodies and minds then Fit Body Boot Camp might be a great business model for you.👇🏼
