The TRULY uncanny thing is how this channel is one of the rare few who can say something like that and not set of alarm bells to me 🤣

I think we need an entire hour long vid on archeological phalluses. Freud would have a field day with it, thinking he discovered something inherit in oedipus through Stone Age dongs.

I can easily imagine that some Roman visitor recognized Stonehenge as a sacred site, and wanted to leave something for the dieties of the site. It's much like visiting a modern church, temple, etc. and making a small donation. I may not worship there myself, but I wish to show respect for those that do.

I always find it strange that you can watch any number of hour long documentaries about stone henge and they never once mention the Romans. Their contribution to this site is vastly underestimated in my opinion.

Somebody found a lucky stone and thought: "I bet the gods of this weird place wanna have that."

Why would a Roman think that burying a stone phallus is a joke? I mean I know we think its funny; but how does that fit with Roman humor?

The Historian's Craft
Wanna learn about the stone from the Roman period, buried at Stonehenge, shaped like a phallus? Stay tuned!
I’m being completely serious. Was reading a report for a different topic and the archaeologist was basically like “yeah we found a stone d*ck. We don’t know if it’s a joke or not from several thousand years ago”
