This is a journal piece I drew over the weekend featuring a really lovely moment I shared with my son. It was a rainy morning while we walked to the doctor's for a checkup, and we were singing some of his current favorite songs while jumping in puddles.
I was thinking to myself how fast children grow up, how soon he'll be running ahead of us not looking back, how soon he'll be in pre-K with a life even more separate from us, how soon he'll have friends he will want to fill his time with.
And while I looked down at him, covering us with the umbrella, I thought: "I hope you will always want to hold my hand."
