If Pokkén taught me anything, it's that the best approach to a Pokémon fighting game roster is a healthy balance of all kinds of Pokémon. From starter to legendary, from fan favorite to oddball

There needs to be an option for in the middle. By no means do I think they are necessary, but I'd rather have them than many other pokemon.

Lucario is simply a solid design when all is said and done and your spin on them would be interesting to see. The annoying part about Lucario was how every Pokemon related piece of media tends to push them at the forefront. But this game has already successfully lasted two years without doing that, so I don't think its necessary to gatekeep Lucario out of the game anymore. Give us the aura dog. 👍

Also I really like the idea that if you do implement Machamp it acts as if it's always been hyped and expected and so it plays to the crowd with Beowulf-style hype poses and stuff with the energy that it's thinking "THE FIGHTING TYPE ICON IS FINALLY HERE. YOU'VE BEEN PLAYING WITH THE ZEROES. NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE HERO"

I’m okay with them after crabrawler, grapploct, iron hands, iron Val, and maybe infernape

i feel like both answers are true in some way; the fighting type as a whole is pretty underrated and unrecognised, so having those iconic reps + oddballs is a well-rounded representation of the fighting type

Its such a tough question! You've done your due diligence bringing the spotlight to so many cool but obscure mons! But it's not like Lucario deserves to be excludes for popularity's sake. Or machamp. But I want Hawlucha to get it's shot too, or Urshifu! They're such shoe-ins, but reading comments reminded me that mons like Pangoro or Tsareena would be amazing choices too. I'm not personally as big into Lucario or Machamp as the many wild choices you've added, but they will undoubtedly have a better chance of making their fans happy.

I don't like how extreme the positive vote is, but I lean towards that they should be in if the community or devs want it. It's not like characters like Blaziken or Breloom are unwelcome.

For me, it’s a matter of “when, not if”. I would love to see them added EVENTUALLY, but I am very happy to see less mainstream fighting types get added first. Then again, we already have very popular pokemon like Heracross or Lopunny in the game, so it’s not like we shouldn’t have ANY widely popular ‘Mon in.

ive honestly been expecting Lucario for quite a bit. not because i care about lucario, i'd just love to see it in this style

There should be a good mix between both Popular and unpopular choices. That way it's less predictable and can satisfy both ends.

I'm fine with whoever on the roster because y'all will kill it with everyone

Whether they end up playable or not, I would like them to be present. Consider a stage background for them somewhere. That said, I do think we have room for a couple of safe picks like them, as well. As the shoto archetype is already covered by Blaziken quite well, I'd like to see Lucario or Gallade be this game's Guile, since it is a bit strange that Heracross is the only charge character on the roster. We also currently only have one grappler. It is much to consider.

Echoing the sentiment that seems common, I agree that a good balance is a boon! I see the implementation of popular fighters such as Machamp and Lucario, in conjunction with the existing colourful cast, as a potential win-win scenario. For one, it could be easier for people who are less acquainted with the franchise in its current state to get into CC with the help of familiar faces; casual/out of touch fans can more readily connect to the fighters they know, and may be more excited to give the game a shot; they may even learn more than they'd expect about the newer Pokémon they never got to meet in the games! For two, I can attest that it's been rewarding for veterans to see CC apply its fresh take on beloved household names like Blaziken and Primeape, as well as well-known odd-jobs like Poliwrath and Heracross. It's fine that they're popular, because they're popular for a good reason in the first place: they're frickin' awesome. And hey, crowd favourites bring the hype!! I'm sure we'd all go bananas to see Infernape bring the heat or see Machamp clobber the competition four ways to Sunday. The presence these popular picks command could also help to "glue the cast together", if that makes sense, balancing out the misfits and strengthening the game's sense of identity as a Pokémon fangame. We get pumped to see CC flesh out some less-loved Fighting-types, and no doubt we will be eagerly awaiting what niche picks the future holds, but there's nothing to be lost in balancing out the cast with some star power!! Thanks for reading my essay.

Machamp and Lucario would be cool to have in the game. Doesn't matter that both Pokémon are bipedal. More Pokémon, more fun!

Honestly just want Lucario in the game because its the only non-legendary fighting/steel type. Similar reasoning for Iron Valiant's inclusion (but also the sprite that was shown for it during one of the polls was honestly peak design, big props to the artist for that one).

I think is important to have "strange" fighting types such us slither wing or the newest k'ommoo, but is not bad to have classic Pokemon like primeape or combusken becouse some classic characters could also be favourites. Either way, continue making such an amazing game.
