HELLO!! I’m here to explain Mydei’s immortality because apparently most people still don’t understand it 😞 So as Mydei’s no. 2 glazer, this is my duty

First of all, Mydei is not immortal in the traditional sense. He’s not “can’t die”, he’s “can revive”, and there is a difference.

Mydei can be killed in any way, for example in battle, but unless the attacker stabs through his weak spot, the 10th thoracic vertebrae (in other words, around the middle of his back), he will revive. Currently, Phainon and the Flame Reaver are the only ones who know this (well, they’re the same person).

In the 3.2 trailblazer quest, this was confirmed again directly in the story. Mydei is the one forcefully resisting permanent death so that he can keep fighting (for a better explanation, watch the Styxia part from any play-through)

His signature lightcone tells us that apparently the revival process is very painful. I know a lot of people don’t read lightcone descriptions, so I attached a picture. The Chrysos Heirs seem to be aware of this, or at least Phainon is, which is why he tried to prevent him from dying as much as possible in the Nikador fights
Thanks hoYo for making me feel bad every time I let him die </3

In summary…
Can Mydei die? Yes.
Can he revive? Yes, but only if he didn’t die from his weak spot, and the rebirth process is painful

Can Mydei touch Castorice? Yes.
Would it kill him? Also yes.
(Could be why he dropped out of the arm wrestling contest when he saw that Rice was his opponent)

And I’d love to include how his immortality is different from like Blade’s or something, but I don’t know any Blade lore I’m sorry 😭😭 I’ve only read Amphoreus lore cus I’m crazy
