So i tried Blender 4.3.2. Right now I used 3.6.7. I set some settings and options to make blender work smoothly as possible. Conclusion? 4.3 is horrible. Basically, from 4.0 and above, it's just horrible for me.
I have this Christmas scene what I did. In the newest version, when I change the view mode to render mode, the program force quits, meanwhile the older version has no problem at all. What I know that the newest version removed some, but also added some stuff. Here's this thing called SHADOWS. It is a nice feature that allows the light to cast shadows. And that is the problem with the new version. For some reason, when it's turned on, even on the lowest settings as possible, blender force quitting when I change to render view, and even if I wanna render the scene, it also crashes. I could leave it unchecked, but trust me, without shadows, the whole scene just looks A$$!!! I tried to tweak every settings to make the newest version work and not force quitting, because my guess is, my graphic card is out of memory thus makes the force quit happening.
There is a scene that had no trouble loading all the stuff in rendered view, but the render time drastically increased compared to the older version. For example, what the 3.6 rendered 1 frame in 12 seconds, the 4.3 rendered 1 frame in 36 seconds or above. UNACCAPTABLE!!! I tried to look for options if I could reduce the rendering time, but no sir, got nothing and found nothing. I could turn down and uncheck every stuff that is NEEDED for the scene to look good, but then it would look horrible. No lights, no shadows, no quality, but hey, look at that fast render time! XD
I am afraid that the newest versions of blender makes you want to upgrade your graphic card, to even handle all of those stuff they putting in. Because it seems a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphic card is not enough for the job now. And the latest graphic cards ain't cheap at all. I admit the light and shadow is beautiful in the newest versions, but C'MON! I'm not here for realism, i just want blender to be performance friendly! And people keep making models and cool add-ons for the newest blender versions, meanwhile I can not use them, because I'm only using below 4.0 version, and the good and better stuff just keep getting available only in 4.0+ versions.
Sorry for the rant, but it just makes me sad and disappointed that a free software making you buy thousands of dollar for a graphic card and CPU to make it even work, it's just ridiculous. OR, if somehow they make the latest blender version usable in the future, then I would gladly using it. But until then, I'm stuck with the good old 3.6.7. version. Sorry Blender foundation, but I can't keep up with you guys if you don't do anything with the performance part or for the people who has "potato" computer settings.
EDIT: What makes this more interesting, Cycles has no problem. Only eevee. Must be an optimization problem?
