Thanks to all of your support, I am through the withdrawal stage.
After 8 days, just like with my first attempt, food finally smelled good again.

I am ready to leave the Pit of Despair behind and get back to life.

No desire for smoke but I know its always going to be lurking in the shadows.

Love to all the angels out there,
Michael

It really does get easier. You start off with it constantly on your mind. Soon you'll go weeks without it even crossing your mind. When the craving calls, it only lasts for a moment. This too shall pass. Thank you for helping anyone with sense enough to listen.

Every time people see someone succeed or even make a serious effort, it inspires more. Congratulations and thanks.

That craving doesnt go away, for years. It just gets easier to live with it. 13 years without a cigarette now. Just keep setting those milestones and keeping hitting them. Good luck

I quit years ago. I won't lie, it took a LONG time. It was about a year before I could see someone smoking and not think about it. The good news is the process is simple. NOT ONE SMOKE. EVER. The line is clear. The line is drawn. The line cannot be breached. Avoid any social situation that might tempt you for awhile (drinking was my trigger). Your life will still be there when you are through, or maybe you will have a created a new one! Good luck to you. Anyone that has done this knows how hard it is and is rooting for you!

Be sure to read How To Quit Smoking The Easy Way And remember that the cravings never really go away. Also One thing that helps is making an identity shift. “I am a non-smoker”

@johndor11

I’m not really qualified in any way, but when I was kicking a smoking addiction, the thing that helped me was replacement. When I got a craving, I would instead stop right that moment and say a prayer, and not one of desperation, just a prayer about whatever is going on that day. Suddenly I found my prayer life improve and the cravings become less preoccupying. I recommend prayer, but any new positive habit would probably be good.

My husband quit smoking 20 years ago. Although he's vaccinated, he had Covid last month. I'm certain had he not quit, this would've been disastrous for our family.

A heroic dose of mushrooms did it for me. Wasn't a heavy smoker but it made me realise at fundamental level that it's poison.
