Another corollary is with Congress. Direct voting of congressmen and women turns it into a popularity contest hence why you have career politicians in Congress 50+ years. Repealing the 16th amendment fixes this and makes term limits unnecessary.

Yes. I do. It was to prevent cities and the concentration of populations to dictate the entire country

@jobudoherty

yes. I paid attention in school for some things

Yes, and its a great system. Small states would have larger State's trampling over them without it.

Tara Ross doesnโ€™t even know the form of government we have. It is a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy or democratic republic.

Yes it is so the few big population states will not have their say (votes) be the deciding factor in all presidential elections.

As far back as the Sumerian Civilization city states enslaved the local people. The Old Testament warned us in the book of Isaiah about the joining of the fields. Athens derived great power from its Democracy and immediately used it to enslave others. A Constitutional Republic protects our Liberty from King Mob, and Plantation Economies.

The primary purpose of the electoral college is to prevent a few large and powerful states from silencing smaller states and controlling elections.

We beat the best teams in the league and are at 6-6. This team has the players, it needs leadership.

People forget the States have the right to leave the United Stages hence the Electoral College allows the states to more directly influence the election.

@MichaelTaylor-g2b

yes it keeps the larger more populous states from ruling the smaller less populous states. i wouldnt want people from new york making decisions on cattle ranching in wyoming or montana.

Interesting how nobody has a problem with the senate. Wyoming has the same voting power as California. The inequality is even greater than the electoral college.

I understand that an elected legislature can usurp your rights just as nasty as a tyrant. When virtues are replaced by vice. This is what can happen.

I do understand the electoral college and why the president has no say on its outcome. MAGA thinks the president decides who gets to be the president

Is it supposed to protect us from stacking the administration with all the cronies.

Something a lot of people miss is that the electoral college makes things easier logistically. Each state has its own election system and trying to conduct a truly national vote would be a nightmare, especially if it was close and you needed to do a recount. The electoral college keeps the popular vote part within the states and then the electoral college vote is pretty trivial to conduct.
