My Thanksgiving travel plans took me right through the Poconos, so I penciled in a little detour to check out Bryan Kohberger’s stomping grounds. Not a whole lot to see here, but I spent a couple hours yesterday exploring and talking to locals - just fishing around for any info about Bryan and the area in hopes of informing our understanding of his background and circumstances.
Key Takeaways:
1. I spoke to about 10 people of all ages and only 2 knew the name Bryan Kohberger - and they could only vaguely recall the story of his arrest and some murders out west. This took me by surprise considering the dramatic middle of the night raid by the FBI and PA State Police, choppers in the sky above his house, news media crews, etc. Granted the murders happened thousands of miles away, I’d still think that his apprehension would have been newsworthy enough - especially in SUCH a quiet, uneventful place.
2. Heroin epidemic is very apparent. Locals don’t trust the police (shocker…) and it seems to me that folks are just doing their best to get by under less than ideal circumstances here.
3. I obviously didn’t trespass, but I would like to know more about the Indian Mountain Lake private community. Theres no town, it’s more of a subdivision with a couple shops down the street. Privacy and security measures are extreme. You can’t enter IML without giving a last name and address to prove residency or visitor status. Just interesting to have a gated community where it’s located. I wonder if it’s like a CIA cut out neighborhood 👀 let’s look into this more..
That’s about all I got. Uneventful visit, but I’m glad I stopped by for perspective. I hope this is somewhat informative or confirmatory lol. Happy Thanksgiving to my people. Love y’all mean it 💕
