A blanked is a safety risk in case of evacuation and thus has to go into your personal bag. Pro Tip: Use a poncho

I flew with easyJet, from Nice, on Tuesday. Ahead of me in the line, a lady whose carry-on's wheels projected less than an inch beyond the maximum dimensions. So, out came her credit-card! EasyJet's maximum luggage dimensions are notably tight. Some 99.9999% of the complaints about the airline on Tripadvisor are about .... luggage wheels leading to excess-baggage charges. The Riviera? Very nice in the spring.

A minor point perhaps but the type of roller luggage that has four wheels has to, by design, have the wheels project outward. I had a Timbuk 2 case that had two wheels and those wheels were inset into the case. Even though I have to, at all times while moving, support the case, that design solves the problem. It also balanced well so that it was not at all difficult to carry. More maneuverable too I thought as it felt easier to turn. It also will not roll away from me on a slope as a four wheel case will. I currently have a Tumi rolling duffle case, which has to be checked anyway because of its size, but it too has just two wheels and that helps to prevent any damage to the wheels because they are recessed. Final point, with the two recessed wheels, more of the case can be allocated to luggage space than with a four wheeled case unless the four wheels extend outside the measurement frame that the airlines use to check luggage. Two wheels good; four wheels bad.

Portable Professional (Travel Tips with Megan)
Ever show up to the airport thinking you’ve done everything right… Then boom — you're slapped with a $65 fee just for bringing a carry-on suitcase?
(Click below to watch if you’ve ever had that “wait, what?” moment at the gate.)
Airlines are getting sneakier.
Not just with carry-ons — but with the kind of seat you get, the weight of your bag (even if it fits), and whether you’re holding a blanket in your arms.
Yes, a blanket.
In my most recent video, I’m breaking down 7 hidden airline fees that are quietly draining travelers’ wallets in 2025 — plus how to spot and avoid each one before it hits you.
You’ll learn:
- Why one wrong move at check-in can cost you more than your actual plane ticket
- How some agents are paid to catch you with oversized bags
- What to double-check if you’re flying with two different airlines on the same trip
-And the tiny mistake that could turn your carry-on into a $100 checked bag at the gate
These are real fees catching real travelers off guard — and if you’re not prepared, you will get hit with them.
