Both Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays each were once considered a holiday. The two were combined to make it one holiday, Presidents Day.

We used to celebrate Washington's birthday and Lincoln's birthday separately

When I was a kid growing up in suburban Chicago, anything related to the State of Illinois (state government, county courts, schools, etc.) were closed for Lincoln's Birthday, while federal offices and multi-state businesses (think Fortune 500) were closed on Washington's Birthday. So, I was off the 12th, and my father was off the 22nd. But, here is irony. In Cook County, the courts are closed on both Lincoln's Birthday and Presidents Day.

Truthfully Washington had his own day, Abe Lincoln had his own day but they took both away and gave one to a Black holiday. BULLSHIT

I don't like Presidents day. It made sense to honor George Washington's birthday, and Lincoln's too. But it makes no sense whatsoever to celebrate Wilson, FDR or Carter. Much less 0bama and Biden. Perhaps We could make note for Cool Cal too, but not all Presidents deserve to be celebrated.
