Ghost Town Living

Hello everyone! Thank you for all the support on our efforts to 3D map the Union Mine! The files we created are linked below. There is a lot of interesting data in there and I hope some of you are able to utilize the data in interesting ways. I have also linked a hosted version of the files from Leica, so you can do a small walkthrough and scan through.

If you haven't yet, I hope you check out the video of the full process: https://youtu.be/c-J86GBpSM0?feature=...

@DEATHTRUTH

I would love to see you use this map in your future videos so we can get an idea of where you are in the mine. I think that would be so cool and help us get a perspective of where you are filming.

Was up in Cerro Gordo about 15 years ago. It's amazing what you have been able to accomplish. It's wonderful that your curiosity and sense of adventure led you to this place. Just finished reading your book, which was very enjoyable. I am sure you never expected all of this to happen and things are expanding for you and the town daily. It's exciting, thrilling, historically interesting and amazing that you are doing this. Thank you so much!!

Really enjoy all your video's and explorations and sense of adventure. Want to read your book but my right foot is in a cast for a total of 4 week's then a walking boot for 3 week's and it's been 2 week's and I'm really going stir crazy. I enjoy being outside and don't usually sit still for long. Broken bone removed, bone spur smoothed, stage 4 arthritis joint in big toe had 2 screws put in it and fused together. Healing will be a long process and the pain has been awful and using a knee walker with my bruised skin bone is rough. I hope and pray this is successful so maybe one day I can come visit your town and see all the wonderful historic things you have there. Maybe even help out somehow. I'm a real good cook. Maybe you could set up some kind of campground there also. The scenery is gorgeous. Really enjoy all the history and beautiful scenery. Great job with all your hard work to preserve this historic site. Hope you're not effected by the wildfires.

So so cool. If you ever wonder do people care about the work you are doing, know that we do. No, not everyone but I have always loved historical things and learning about the lives and times before my own. Thank you for this journey you bless us with in every video release.

This mapping reminds me of some echo location from a sci-fi movie. We are in a truly unique place and time. Loving it, Brent.

Amazing work! Two things I recommend. 1. Have a geologist and cad designer model the rock formation to show where the veins and pockets would be and how the miners chased them with their tunnels (hypothesise where other locations could be). 2. Continue to extend this map with the intention of finding the lost miners who died following the collapse. Maybe return them to the cemetery?

The miners back in the day would have never thought this possible. So cool!

My lord this is so cool!!!! Brent, excellent work. For whatever reason the YouTube algorithm put your first video in my suggestions. You have yet to disappoint since then. One day my family and I will make our way to your slice of heaven.

Absolutely fantastic stuff. I was always amazed by the diorama at the Empire Mine in Grass Valley which mapped out the numerous entire Mine shafts. This is a whole different level entirely. A huge teaching tool.
