10 speed is awesome for how it makes the truck drive and feel. I do however own the 6 speed and believe it to have better longevity. Oof I didn’t read F150. Mine is a 350. Wife has a 10speed in her king ranch 150. Feels fine. Happy we bought the 10 year 175k warranty

4 or 5 spd transmission is all I will drive unless it’s a getrag or a otr 8,10 spd

I only buy manuals. I own a 95 bronco and 98 f150. Both with 5 speeds. Im not buying anything newer because i hate automatics. Im forced to drive a 2016 GMC van for my employer and curse that 6 speed auto everytime I have to floor it to get it in the proper gear. Id rather burn it than drive it

I’ve seen the 6R80’s shift smooth as butter for 300,000+ miles being driven nicely and with fluid changes. I’m doubtful anyone can say the same about the 10R80’s. Seems like replacing the valve bodies is a regular service interval.

Devil's Advocate. 10 speed for fuel economy and performance. 6 speed for longevity and drivability. However once the 10 speeds are fixed with revised parts and adaptive tables disabled, they do drive a lot nicer than the 6R80.

The 10R series can be fantastic but they all need to have a better torque converter, and the trash MacLean-Fogg valve bodies replaced with something that actually is made with quality and properly designed.
