Probably one of those with off-beat humor. Sounds like something my dear friend would say. I recently parked in a space next to a handicapped spot, where a man was parked and waiting for someone. When I got out, he said “hey, you do realize the close spaces are for older people.” I said well, I’m close enough to that, and he laughed and we wished each other a great day.
