When people tell you that the name Jesus is a “Roman/Catholic/Constantine” invention please tell them that the name of Jesus —> Ἰησοῦς was used by the Jews centuries before the Roman Empire even existed.
How do we know this? Because the oldest translation of the “Hebrew” scriptures that exist today is (ironically) The Greek Old Testament Septuagint LXX, translated 285 BC. In this authoritative translation, the Jews used the name of Jesus —> Ἰησοῦς as the name for the prophet Joshua (not the other way around.)
This means that the Jews were literally using the name Jesus hundreds of years before the Roman Empire was even established in 27 BC.
And this is why the Apostles and the authors of the New Testament manuscripts (all written in Greek, not Hebrew, not Aramaic) continued writing the mighty name of —> Ἰησοῦς, for the Son of God.
