Warhammer needs competition. Mere existence of Epic forced Valve to become vastly more pro consumer. Existence of Last Epoch made Path of Exile devs finally implement some basic quality of life. Competition is good for consumer and for that reason alone it's worth supporting this

I think Trench Crusade is super interesting, but they just haven’t set themselves up for growth that results in a stable income; which they need if they really want to become a full blown miniature wargaming company. STL files for your miniatures is a really cool idea, but most companies that go that route make up for the lack of continuous sales by producing new files on a regular basis. If they’d stuck with a physical product it would have been more expensive for them in the short term but it gives them a stable pool of products that they can sell to their customers. I think a lot of people get lost in the magic of a new wargame and don’t think about how, at the end of the day, it’s a business that needs to produce a stable income for its creators if they want it to succeed/survive.

I got excited printed and painted up minis and then the enthusiasm dropped. I feel its too grim and dark for me. Everything is pain and suffering, maybe we need more lore about the life away from the battle fronts. Life is tough enough without facing that in your hobby. It could just be age and I'm not cool and edgy any more😆

It may fall into a niche like Quar or something, but I doubt it will grow into a true rival anytime soon since it lacks the infrastructure of GW and most folk get spooked by 3d printing at the moment. The model quality and art is great, and will probably be an excellent addition to many collectors/painters, but won't probably fair well in terms of setting and game. Some folks may have issues with aspects of the setting, comes across as very pizza cutter edgy with gore/giggly bits occasionally "mom made me go to mass on Sundays, so I'm a rebelTM" at times. Finally, and take this with a pinch of salt, the community despite its youth has been rather "unpleasant" from what I've personally heard and experienced. There's this feeling of toxic positivity about the setting, seems like every hobby channel is pushing it at the same time calling it "the Warhammer killer" making it feel artificial and a combatative (your just a hatter) nature against those who see issues (real or imagined) or simply aren't interested in it. I hope most of my critiques are simply growing pains, and that other aspects find purpose beyond shock and spite. Too many markets lack the competition to function properly for the customer, with price hikes from on high or singular content oversaturization in the hobby space. Thanks to anyone who read this, feel free to have your own thoughts on the matter, this has been my Ted talk.

Thanks for sharing this guys. Karl's work is something incredibly special. Trench Crusade caught my attention very quickly. It is very unique on all fronts. Mini agnostic, very affordable and astoundingly, horrifically, beautiful.

I think it’s amazing, the lore, the world building, the GRAPHIC artwork, semi-agnostic with figures, it all just works. Aside from some “unpleasantness” from some of the community I think it’s very cool and would like to see it expand. And hey you guys are talking about Trench Crusade! I asked y’all about this about a month or so ago? Very cool wish y’all all the success. Get a Reddit community going! Get a dischord!

I consider that Warhammer fears it. Not from the POV of chewing too far into its profit margins, but rather as lifting the veil on the hobby & showing what's possible in terms of customer & artistic freedom. It's potentially the first boulder of a building avalanche that threatens the grip of Warhammer. GW is paying attention, I'm certain of it.

Trench Crusade fills a niche that Warhammer barely has rn. An actual narrative skirmish game (outside of necromunda). Also the setting is really unique and different to a Fantasy and Sci-fi one. I wouldn't therefore call it a rival to Warhammer and rather just a different game and system.

Its hyper-stylized grimgross, whch makes it a tougher sell from the start. The influencers will have fun with it, but it won't go much further than that. Great design, lousy marketing. There should have been demo packs distrubuted to larger shops in key sales regions.

Flash in the pan! People who buy into a game based on vibes will at one point notice that its a lot of hard hobby work to transfer these vibes to the table...

What are you Painting now?
Hey all have you seen this? www.gofundme.com/f/xahmmd-recovery-from-my-stroke
We just found out (thanks to @trovarion_unfiltered for the signal boost) that the amazing artist @karlkopinski6431 suffered a stroke. Karl’s art has been instrumental to so many in our hobby, so we’d love to help him out by sharing his GoFundMe
If you’re able to contribute, please do. If not, a share or a comment can really help spread the word.
Now, for a little poll to boost engagement (and hopefully send more eyes to Karl’s fundraiser). We asked ChatGPT about the “most popular Warhammer alternatives,” and it totally overlooked Trench Crusade—despite its massive online following (top 3% on Reddit, 80k+ on Facebook, and hundreds of thousands of YouTube views). The Abominable Intelligence basically said that “social media success isn’t everything” and it’s not “mainstream” yet. Well it said quite a bit more than that, but basically it said Trench Crusade is "eh"
So what do you think?
Is Trench Crusade “just a flash in the pan”?
Is the Abominable Intelligence right it's just eh?
It's just a fun alternative to Warhammer never rival it
Is it the next big thing?
From the depth of our hearts, we hope you keep those brushes wet Karl or in your case those pencils sharp, and your skills even sharper. Lots of love and we hope this helps
