THINGS I DESPISE ABOUT NASCAR 1. The NASCAR Playoff System Reason why - Today, (or yesterday), the nascar xfinity series had its championship race at phoenix arizona. Before I go any further, if you dont know what the nascar playoff system / points system is, allow me. NASCAR is an American motorsport, and because its American, they tend to twist things in an American way. Nascar points work like this. The highest finisher gets 40 points at the end of the race, the second place driver gets 39, the next gets one point less than the last, until everyone has been rewarded a point. But because its American, here's where the turns table. Stages in NASCAR award more points for the top 10 finishers in the stage. Yes, I said finishers. Each stage is like a mini race. 1st place gets 10 points, second gets 9, so on and so forth until 10th place gets 1 point. This goes on twice. Two stages, then the actual race. The final (3rd stage) of the race does NOT reward stage points, and thats where the first form of points come in. But here's the dumbest part of it all. I mentioned "Playoffs", and how do you get in, you ask? (youre not asking i just need this to be longer for a video and a rant.) Well, you'd probably think you get the most points and youre in. And while technically not wrong, the "easiest" way to get in is to win a race. Seriously. That's it. Just win a race and youre in. 26 races to try and get into the Playoffs, and 9 races to determine the championship four, then a final race to determine the champion. Now here's the kicker, you can be the best driver out there. Win 10 races on the season. AND LOSE THE CHAMPIONSHIP TO A GUY WHOS NOT WON A RACE SINCE AUGUST. That's what happened to today's Xfinity Series championship race. A 19 year old Connor Zilisch wins 10 races, is a ROOKIE, and can't even get a trophy to reward his success. this is why nascar needs to either A, change their points system entirely to be more deserving. Or B, use the same format as F1.
