NFL 2K5 on an emulator with updated rosters, teams, and stadiums with nothing else changed would unironically be a better game at this point

Isn't that usually discussed at the owners meeting in May? If I remember correctly, the last extension got done during an owners meeting where they voted on it. I hope they finally open it up, a decade late but hey, if John Cena is finally a heel then anything can happen!

It’s so ironic that a league built on competition and earning your spot, kills all competition for its video games.

There have been so many mobile games with an NFLPA license released in the last 2 years. Ik retrobowl recently got permission to use NFL teams so I think this Is really happening 😭

After the L I took today I hope they don’t get it. Losing is one thing but losing to ridiculousness takes the cake!

If NFL does open up the license for other developers it would be huge

I wrote this comment or similar to u on this page prolly over a year ago, saying they haven’t signed the extension yet and seems like still hasn’t, and I hope they don’t and just focus on college football and nfl gets took over by 2k or another company, 2k contract coming up as well next year or 2027

I was gonna say cause I haven’t heard anything and was going to check on your channel cause maybe you covered and I missed it but even you don’t know lmao. Let’s hope they aren’t resigning with EA

I get where you’re coming from. The NFL is a risk-averse business, and they’ve consistently prioritized stable, long-term revenue over taking chances on unproven competition. Their track record with exclusivity—whether in video games, broadcasting rights, or sponsorships—shows they favor guaranteed money and partnerships with established companies. The idea that they'd suddenly change course and embrace multiple competing licenses goes against how they've historically operated. Even if they dropped EA, they’d still seek another exclusive deal because that model has worked for them financially. The structure of their business ecosystem is built around locking in predictable revenue streams rather than experimenting with open-market competition. So yeah, unless there's a drastic shift in their approach (which history suggests is unlikely), we’re probably looking at more of the same—just with a different company if EA ever loses the rights.

Hate to say it, but... We could get an end to EA's exclusive NFL sim license before GTA VI...

After they saw the FIFA new deals probably they think could do the same, one thing is sure soccer have many more fans and have many teams on Europe,Latín América, Japan and the ultra richs Arab owned teams.

It's strange that we haven't heard anything about a contract extension between EA and the NFL... I hope it's because the NFL is heavily considering opening up the license!
