Mr. and Mrs. Friendly Exmuslim

Muhammad must have been the most insecure man on the planet.

In this hadith, Mohammad lays yet another ridiculous and nonsensical ruling on his wives to not wear silk or jewelry in this world.

The Messenger of Allah used to tell his wives not to wear jewelry and silk. He said: "If you want the jewelry and silk of Paradise, then do not wear them in this world."
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5136

This is just another way for Mohammad to control the autonomy of women and reinforce their dependence on him.
He also forbade them from talking to men without a screen between them, and to EVER marry after he died. He also assumed that Aisha cheated on him with Ṣafwān ibn al-Muʿaṭṭal

But what else did Mohammad forbid women to do (all Muslim women)? Let's go through a list.

1. Wear jewelry and silk
2. Wearing perfume in public
3. Plucking eyebrows
4. Wearing makeup
5. Hair extensions and wigs
6. Covering everything but the face and hands
7. Traveling without a mahram
8. Fasting or praying while menstruating
9. Not marrying outside of the Islamic faith
10. Refusing sex with one's husband
11. Fasting without the husband's permission
12. Not allowed equal inheritance

What else can you think of that Mohammad did to take away the autonomy of women?
