It's our last episode from Argentina before we return to England for the start of another mini-series! (More on that soon!). This week, the southernmost train ride in the world. More than just a scenic railway, this End of the World Train journey is a trip into the past, tracing the route forged by the prisoners who shaped Ushuaia's beginnings.
At the "End of the World Station," you can explore the history before boarding the train for a 50-minute journey one way. An onboard audio guide narrates the story of the original "Prison Train" and its vital role in Ushuaia's development. We, of course, will give you our narrated guide!
Ushuaia, established in 1884, became known for its harsh prison. The train route reveals the prisoners' grueling labour transporting essential materials. The journey includes views of the Pico Valley, Toro Gorge, and a stop at Cascada de la Macarena. Then, continuing into Tierra del Fuego National Park, you'll see the "tree cemetery," a reminder of the area's past. The End of the World Train offers a unique perspective on Ushuaia's history and the stunning landscapes of Patagonia. Join us this Saturday at 2pm GMT 5th April, and enjoy the ride.
