Many people in the Philippines think that once you go abroad, or marry a Westerner, you instantly become rich. When I first moved overseas, I often received messages asking for help, donations, or presents. But now that I live here, I’ve seen the reality of life abroad—things are not always easy.

Here, we don’t have helpers or yayas—we do all the house chores ourselves. I’m lucky to be married to a talented husband who can build, repair, and fix things at home, which saves us money instead of hiring someone.

Sometimes when I can’t help or have to say no, people say I’ve changed or become selfish. The truth is, I can help a little now and then, but I can’t help the whole world. My main priority is always my direct family and my family here.

No matter how I try to explain, some still don’t understand that we also have bills to pay and a budget to manage. If we’re able to share or help, even in small ways, please be thankful because you may not see the struggles behind it.

And if you see us traveling or eating out, remember—it’s not about being rich, it’s about enjoying the little rewards we worked hard for. ❤️
