Energi Media

Tired of our LNG videos? I get it. It may look like I'm beating a dead horse, but this is REALLY important. I asked the Canadian Dept of Natural Resources about their expectations for global LNG demand to 2050. No point building LNG facilities (which for some reason, always require taxpayer subsidies) if there are no customers, right? The response was disturbing. When Minister Tim Hodgson says there is tremendous demand for Canadian LNG, he's using the IEA's most bullish forecasts and modelling. Like, incredibly optimistic.

I don't know about you, but I'd like my federal government to be cautious with my hard-earned tax dollars. Instead, Hodgson is selling a rosy LNG future that is highly unlikely, IMO.

On Tuesday, I'll post a story that includes NRCAN's response, comments from one of my global LNG experts, and the actual IEA modelling, which will show graphically how wildly optimistic Hodgson is.

See ya Tuesday. Markham
