The AI Advantage

What an insane week for AI!

Here's a quick recap of all the major releases:

- Projects were finally added to ChatGPT! The new Projects feature is strikingly similar to Claude's Projects, but there are key differences, notably ChatGPT's projects are not sharable whereas Claude's Projects are designed from the ground up for team-based collaboration. The new Projects feature is available to both paid and free ChatGPT users and will likely see a ton of improvements and updates in the near future.

- ChatGPT's Search feature got major upgrades: when using Search, ChatGPT can now display image and video content, show up-to-date business hours, and find directions for you with new Apple Maps integration. OpenAI also that announced search is now freely available to all logged-in ChatGPT users, and paid users can now use Search within Advanced Voice Mode.

- OpenAI’s special "Dev Day - Holiday Edition" shifted the focus towards developers. They announced the availability of the full o1 API along with some Realtime API updates and the release of a new Preference Fine Tuning method.

- OpenAI also introduced us to 1-800-CHATGPT—you can call that US-based number to get 15 minutes per day of free voice conversation with ChatGPT, plus it has WhatsApp integration, so now nearly anyone with a phone can easily access ChatGPT.

- The ChatGPT Desktop App now has three new app connections: Apple Notes, Notion, and Quip, making ChatGPT work even more seamlessly on your computer than ever before.

- GitHub Copilot introduced a free tier, now you can test its capabilities without spending a cent.

- Google Labs launched Whisk, a unique image generation platform powered by the new Imagen 3. It’s free to use, designed around image prompting and remixing and is way deeper than it seems on first glance!

- Moodboards feature now available to all Midjourney users, letting you create and save specific styles and quickly apply them to new generations.

- Google showed off their new Veo 2 video generation model, and while access is very limited right now, it certainly looks like an S-Tier tool that competes with the likes of Runway and Dream Machine.

- Pika 2.0 launched with a new video generation model and a new Scene Ingredients feature. While the quality of outputs isn’t quite S-Tier, the unique features Pika provides make it a worthwhile platform to test.

That's all for this week!
