I have been a gamer my entire life. I have played every console and I even owned every console at one point.
I have play everything from Super Mario RPG to Escape From Tarkov and I have dumped 1000s and 1000s of hours in games.
Additionally, I learned how games we love were made. Games like Halo, Call Of Duty, Red Dead, etc.
I have a lot of insight and valuable information about gaming.
Why am I telling you this? Well, I see a lot of… let’s call them “copy-paste creators,” and they all regurgitate the same information on why modern gaming “sucks” now.
They are all wrong. They do no understand why gaming is failing. I do know why games suck now.
Games suck now because we have people who never played video games working on them! It is just that simple.
You have people who graduate college with animation degrees or UI degrees and the only places that really look for those are big animation studios or video game companies.
These students only learn about design and games through an academic lens and never have any experience because they don’t actually like games. Then they get hired by some gaming company and apply what they learned because it is technically how games are designed.
