Less true now, but I remember in the Mid-2000s working retail computer repair, about 90% of the time when people came in with broken Internet if they had a particular Norton product installed it was the reason it stopped working. We uninstalled it, put on something else, and they were fine. Norton has forever been on my "junk software" list because of that.

I un-installed McAfee AND IT DIDNT GO AWAY UNTIL I BECAME THEE 'SYSTEM' USER AHH also the secure search with yahoo was so annoying

My dad always swore by Norton but it made my computer slow and started showing the same behaviours as AVG when that turned crap.
