Good morning everyone, section "railway sights". And today I will tell you about the route and about an interesting station. There were two ways to get to Copenhagen from Hamburg: crossing the border in the border town of Flensburg, or a shorter way: using a ferry crossing, now I'll tell you how it is. Train (diesel ICE) travels to the village of Puttgarden on the island of Fehmarn, where the train enters a perfectly moored ferry, cars, trucks and buses also enter it, then the ferry sails 18 kilometers across the strait and moored in the town of Rødby where it unloads, then the train travels further to Copenhagen But unfortunately the diesel ICE TDs were written off due to expensive maintenance, and the route was canceled, but I heard that it will take on a new life because they plan to open a tunnel through the strait in 2028. Photos: 1) Puttgarden Station 2) Ferry at Puttgarden Station 3) ferry route from above 4) ICE TD on the ferry 5) Rødby station (rødby færge)
