What do you believe about Salvation?

Salvation cannot be lost Jude 1:24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,

Salvation is a work of God from start to finish. Philippians 1: He who started a good work in you will continue and finish it... If any part of salvation is up to you, you will fail at it, guarantee.

"Those who deny that salvation can ever be lost, reason on the subject in a marvelous way. They tell us, that no virgin's lamp can go out; no promising harvest be choked with thorns; no branch in Christ can ever be cut off from unfruitfulness; no pardon can ever be forfeited, and no name blotted out of God's book! They insist that no salt can ever lose its savor; nobody can ever "receive the grace of God in vain"; "bury his talents"; "neglect such great salvation"; trifle away "a day of grace"; "look back" after putting his hand to the gospel plow. Nobody can "grieve the Spirit" till He is "quenched," and strives no more, nor "deny the Lord that bought them"; nor "bring upon themselves swift destruction." Nobody, or body of believers, can ever get so lukewarm that Jesus will spew them out of His mouth. They use reams of paper to argue that if one ever got lost he was never found. John 17:12; that if one falls, he never stood. Rom. 11:16-22 and Heb. 6:4-6; if one was ever "cast forth," he was never in, and "if one ever withered," he was never green. John 15:1-6; and that "if any man draws back," it proves that he never had anything to draw back from. Heb. 10:38,39; that if one ever "falls away into spiritual darkness," he was never enlightened. Heb 6:4-6; that if you "again get entangled in the pollutions of the world," it shows that you never escaped. 2 Pet 2:20; that if you "put salvation away" you never had it to put away, and if you make shipwreck of faith, there was no ship of faith there!! In short they say: If you get it, you can't lose it, and if you lose it you never had it. May God save us from accepting a doctrine, that must be defended by such fallacious reasoning!" John Wesley

I know one thing is for sure, the former life and desires I once had one day suddenly disappeared and I began to see with a different set of eyes and a different heart. Those things I once did (listen to gangster rap, drink, smoke cigarettes and weed, party every weekend, curse, and the list goes on) I can no longer do and I could never see myself doing them again and matter of fact, I would be extremely uncomfortable doing them again. I believe once you are truly born again, you cannot lose your faith in Christ even though hard times will come and some seasons might seem like you've lost your faith and salvation but you will always remember what HE has done for you and be strengthened in time of need.

I believe salvation is for everyone if they receive it

When you come to the full understanding that you had absolutely nothing to do with you becoming Born Again , it's then you can rest assured the Father has you in hand.

Every single book in the NT has some kind of warning against losing our salvation. Guard your heart, do not be deceived, do not be swept away by false doctrine, finish the race., etc. I for one am not going to rest on my laurels thinking that I'm right with Christ while in fact I'm not.

Narrow is the way and narrow is the path that leads to righteousness and few that walk therein. Not all that cry Lord Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. We have to walk out our salvation in fear and trembling.

From Gods view his will is that every human is saved and protected in that salvation eternaly. But God has created us all with a free will. We can lose our salvation if we leave the faith. Therefore its very important to preach and teach about the sin, sinnature and the only way to have victory over the world, flesh and the devil.

Being saved I now see it as your either in adam or in Christ. We did nothing to earn it and we can do nothing to lose it.

The results on this are sobering. The church is in trouble.

I do not understand how one can believe in the doctrine of eternal security, yet also believe in free will? Do the two not contradict each other? If I can not walk away from my salvation or reject it, does this not violate my free will? It seems like a logical inconsistency to me, more than the doctrine of free will itself, even.

I did think it was one and done, eternal type thing but that would make Christians to have no free-will and also leaves several scriptures that don’t make sense. After studying, I now believe that you can’t just “lose” it by accident but you can walk away from it/reject it if you decide to do so. This answer makes all of the scriptures make sense to me. People say if someone walks away or changes religion that they were never saved to begin with but I don’t agree with that. I walked away from God after being saved and I can tell a difference like night and day as to when the Holy Spirit is with me and when it’s not. People argue that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit but the scripture actually says we are sealed with it through Christ. So it’s only if we abide in Him. Hence why He says to abide in Him. Hence why Paul says don’t grieve the Holy Spirit. Hence why scriptures say many will depart from the faith in latter days, going after seducing spirits. You can’t depart from something if you were not there to start with. I can recommend a few good videos explaining the scriptures as to why I believe this over OSAS if anyone is curious. I believe that Christians can and do sin all the time but it’s our heart attitude that God is looking at. If we are genuine about desiring to change and grieved by our sin, God isn’t going to take away our salvation. If we sin and make some mistakes, in ignorance, even if a major sin like adultery where overcome by lust like David, if we are repentant like David, we won’t lose salvation. However, if we turn our heart away from God, decide that we want to live our own way and defy Him because we would prefer to ignore his commands, yep I believe we can have salvation taken from us. The lost sheep went astray by accident, the shepherd went out to bring him back. The prodigal son chose to leave, the father did not go after him but when he came back, welcomed him. Paul also talks about if you see a brother commit a sin unto death, not even to pray for them. I believe it’s the ones who reject God. They need to suffer and learn the hard way in order to truly appreciate what they had, just as the prodigal son did.

It's hard to imagine that if you have ever Truly tasted The Love of God that you would walk away from Him, but the bible does speak of a falling away and not being able to renew one to repentance. It is a verse. And we see men like Josh Harris and Tyler Vela do just that.

If you are grafted in by faith... straying into unbelief will get you cut off. Behold the goodness and severity of God. Don't test Him. This is why Paul says to hold fast to the faith and endure. Romans 11:19-22 Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;” ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭16‬ ‭KJV‬‬ How can we lose our salvation if the Comforter we are given abides with us forever?

Ezekiel 18:6 And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman, Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

We are signed and sealed until the day of redemption. If you truly had a born again experience and put your faith in the blood of Christ to cleanse you of your sins (past present and future!), you will have eternal life with our Lord. You couldn’t lose salvation if you tried, but you will be held accountable on the day of judgement, regardless.

When I was young, I would hear ppl say, “Once in grace, always in grace”, but even as a child that didn’t feel right to me, but I’ve learned just how much I didn’t know or didn’t understand since then so I’m not really sure.
