Might as well make it Tatooine. Everything seems to revolve around that place anyway.

Corusant is the only planet that could show the republic for what it really is, a beautiful jewel with a rotten core.

Alderaan wouldnt want that. They like their fancy mountian views and being the Capital would bring along with it, the Rabble.

Empress teta was already an ecumanopolis(idk how to spell the word, it's not in auto correct), and it's very near to the galactic core. Alderan was a cultural center, but beyond that wasn't terribly notable. Alsakan would be funny because of the constant rebellions though.

Considering there were something like ten or fifteen separate Alsakan Rebellions, probably not them.

Taris was a very urbanized world that rivaled Coruscant, but the sith bombarded the planet during the knights of the old republic era. No building taller than 4 feet was left standing.

My timeshare on Alderaan is worth, like 10 times more than I paid for it 6 years ago! I knew the value would go up, it's - it's just such a peaceful place, and... wha-what is this, the value is totally dropping! ZERO!?

Alsakan was basically already a second Coruscant and led their own faction that practically controlled half of the Galactic Republic for thousands of years, called the Axis, which were opposed to the other half called the Spin. The cause of the Alsakan Conflicts was because the Axis worlds liked economic and political independence while the worlds of the Spin preferred a more centralized bureaucracy for its economic and security benefits. The only reason that Alsakan didn't become the capital is simply because they never won the wars (mostly because of the Jedi). One key moment in galactic history where Alsakan could've easily supplanted Coruscant was the 6th Alsakan Conflict, when the Republic was taken over by the Pius Dea cult and launched crusades against non-humans. They were able to crush the Pius Dea with the help of some Jedi and an alliance between various species, but after that the Jedi used their influence to make sure that Coruscant was the center of the Republic once more.

I would say Kuat if not for the dominance of the Kuat drive yards. It’s in the core worlds, is a rich and prosperous planet, has incredible manufacturing capabilities, and is constantly well defended by fleets of Star destroyers and dreadnoughts.

Alsakan would be the next biggest after Alderaan's destruction. They were rivals of 'Second Powers' although Corellia could also be a close 3rd with its influence and trade access.

If you ask me, the Separatists had the right idea: Raxus was a perfect world, so beautifully surrounded by nature and natural light, and the fact that their Parliament building resembles a church from the outside a bit works nicely for me.

Alsakan probably the best choice after all of the wars were over. Empress Teta was a constant war zone and relati Ely isolated. Alsakan lay at the end of a major trade spine, just like Coruscant did.

Any planet that would become the capital would quickly turn Coruscant-like. Center of the galaxy and all.

In star wars Legends Alderaan would've been perfect. Not one planetary city, as the Alderaanians were closer the Ithorians in that regard, and because for most of Alderaans history the pacifist faction that rose to power after the Ruusan Refomations weren't in control, so a peace loving, but willing to take the fight to the enemy Republic (at the very least the Rebellions main anti-infantry turret on Hoth was Alderaanian based, I was Surprised how similar Alderaanian turrets on Alderaan in Star wars: The Old Republic are) and according to some books like the Black Fleet crisis books, Alderaanian technology, including Military technology, was possible thousands or at least hundreds of years more advanced than most of the Galaxy, like Gree, Kwa, maybe even Celestial level of power. The reason Alderaan was destroyed was because the pacifist faction took all or almost all of their technology, put it on a ship, and tried to make sure no one could ever get it again, despite the fact half of it was defensive or Civilian.

Could there have been another Capital of the Republic?
