Would you rather take part in a night ops mission or a dawn raid?

Refrigerator Raids are my bread and butter. I joined the Gravy Seals 10 years ago

I'll stick with Dawn less likely to get shot by a dude in flip flops with a thermal scope.

Everyone voting night ops has never had to use NVGs 😂

Depends on the enemy in my opinion

was talking to a friend of mine an Army Ranger about this just the other day. He didn't like night ops at all. He said it scared the crap out of him when tracers are going everywhere.

Ex Army Infantryman here. Nvgs suck.

About a year ago id say night, but thermal man, its too common now. Attacking a fixed position at night just sounds like running into a buzzsaw

Good job US Army! This is a way more valid question than usual. I was expecting, "what's worse, a pebble in your sneakers, or pizza MRE?" And I chose Dawn Raid, I hate having to rely on tech to see. Semper Fi.

Night ops, because operations often gets lateand of time. A night op becomes a dawn raid and a dawn raid becomes a morning raid.

NOT A SOLDIER HERE, but i took the 2 day class Patrolling The Homestead from Combat Art Training, and i can tell you the night patrol portion was very challenging. At one point i miss counted the number of guys in the patrol and was convinced i had lost a teammate. The experience gave me a very high level of respect for anyone who historically conducted night time operations without night vision equipment. Great class and instructors btw i highly recommend it.

@Another-Ani

I have learned the art of making my footsteps and breathing as quiet as possible simply by being an introvert. I will either complete the mission without being seen, or disappear within five seconds.

@GopnikDreams

Neither. Look at how this government treats its veterans. Fight for billionaires and corrupt politicians? No thanks.

With cheap and readily available thermals, night ops are no longer viable. Ukraine has shown that

As a U.S. Marine it's all good day, night, Early or late...it all the same....defined this Nation.....

I choose dawn. As long as the sun isn’t blinding me when it rises. I have super light sensitive eyes. I’d prefer the night, except having to use night vision would really screw up my eyes and make me twice as clumsy as I already am! 😂

@wesleyrieth5983

Depends on the access to the objective. If the size of enemy forces is larger theb your own then night raid. If you possess larger forces than the enemy a more coordinated attack can be made as the sun rises.

In 1975 to 1979 as a Marine, I always preferred night training. Saw a Starlight Scope once and it went blind as soon as a flare went up. Our night vision was just whatever our eyes could see and our ears could hear and that is a true challenge to the senses!
